I was taken by the clarity and optimism of a panelist yesterday here at South By Southwest. Michael Graziano, a professor of neuroscience and psychology at Princeton, has been researching consciousness for years. When he began, he thought his work might be "terribly important for some distant future." Well, that future arrived a lot more quickly than anyone imaginedin the form of generative AI and worries it might end humanity as we know it.
