So Luke contacted me asking for some clarification and advice with regards to spare parts. Here's what I told him with some links if you need them:

'OK. The important thing to remember is that the cable needs to be USB TypeC. That's because it supports USB 3 (a much faster speed transfer). Here's a link to a good quality one:

Problem is, USB TypeC is the wrong connection for your tablet, like it is for mine. Hence the need for an adapter like the one that's shipped with the Mavic Air. So keep that one safe. However, if you lose that (and let's face it, it's a tiny bit of kit, who isn't gonna lose it?) you can get a replacement/spare here:

So everywhere I looked, all I could find was either USB debugging would sort the problem or that I should use an iPad. But I already had a tablet. It just wouldn't work!
