I believe that things we create have a little of our souls in them. So what happens when a creation gets put in a time capsule early in its existence? No bringing the baby home from the hospital or taking your son to his first day of school. The trials or tribulations of teaching your daughter how to drive for the first time or how to start on a hill without killing the clutch. Vacations skiing or pilling the surfboards on the roof rack and heading for Pismo beach. Lovingly put away in a climate control basement when it was less than a year old fed and loved in a different manner. Its sacrifice provide it us 44 years later a glimpse at what it was to be a brand new Volkswagen in 1967. The beautiful way they were painted, the perfect and air tight fit of all the doors, front and rear hoods. Fate chose this car to be cloistered and now it is its time to shine in the sun.
The Volkswagen Beetle was the car that had the most love applied to it. Ironically, originally financed by a mad man and designed by one of the most brilliant engineers of all time. "The Peoples Car" survived a world war and became just that. Initially imported by US servicemen returning home from Europe and then officially imported by Max Hoffman of New York from 1950 until 1953, when he sold the rights to the newly formed Volkswagen of America. The trickle of the 50's turned into a torrent as Boomers grew up in the 60's and started driving and revolting against the establishment. This 1967 VW featured here is incredible! As I walked up to it I could see that this was not a restoration this car in fact it is a living example of how well put together these cars really were. Those are the original Continental tires with some little cracks they survived the travel trough time in great condition. Thank you to those that preserved it ant to those who are the current caretakers for sharing it with us.
