Corals can be found in all of the world's oceans, from tropical to arctic, but they only form coral reefs in warm, shallow seas in the tropics.
The reef systems of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, which is approximately 2,300 kilometers long, are among the largest and most wellknown. The most biologically diverse reefs on the planet can be found in Southeast Asia's Coral Triangle.
Capturing the range of diversity necessitates knowledge of the reflectance signatures that coral reefs may be best classified by in order to use more common classification schemes from multiple satellite sources. Different systems and observation data can be used to train automated classification algorithms using Planet Labs satellites.
