When changing the guides, you need to understand what dimensions the bushing should have. Therefore, before ordering the necessary guides, be sure to knock out at least one of those that need to be changed. Measure the outside diameter and length. The outer diameter of the rail can be repaired. In what cases are repair bushings installed, that is, bushings with a large outer diameter, read below.Further, the second thing you need to pay attention to is at what level the bushings protrude from the cylinder head. Oftentimes, the exhaust and inlet sleeves are at different heights and may be of different lengths. Also, the bushings have sides or rings. Tool. We need a drift, the diameter, which should be a couple of dozen less than the inner diameter of the sleeve, so that the drift fits clearly into the sleeve. The outer diameter of the punch is needed less than the outer diameter of our sleeve. This is necessary in order for the drift to pass freely in the body of the cylinder head.
You will also need a mandrel for pressing and, in addition to it, a nozzle according to the size of the groove for the oil seal. Such a nozzle will protect the bushing from splitting and breaking of the place under the oil seal during pressing.
Next, we heat the head to a temperature of no more than 150 degrees. We heat the place of pressing the bushings.
We take the drift we have prepared and knock out the guides from the side of the cylinders.
When knocking out, be sure to pay attention to the effort with which the guides are knocked out. They should not come out freely and by hand. If the bushings come out very freely, then you will have to install repair bushings with an increased diameter.

Therefore, if this happens, you need to wait until the head cools down and measure the diameter of the fit and a possible ellipse with an internal gage. According to the measured diameter, it is necessary to select the bushings of the repair size, of course, taking into account the required interference.
Next, we take a mandrel for pressing. We put a sleeve on it, not forgetting that the place for the oil seal should be in the nozzle, and not vice versa. Liberally lubricate the edge of the guide sleeve with oil and light blows, as if feeling for the place and direction of movement of the sleeve, without hurrying, proceed to hammering. When it is already felt that the sleeve has found its place, then we hammer confidently, applying an effort to the impact, we hammer until the characteristic sonorous knock.
Now let's consider the case when there is no rim on the bushing, but a certain protrusion of the guide in the head body must be observed. We, as in the previous case, select a drift and a mandrel with a nozzle.

And so that the sleeve has a certain overhang above the head, we will also select a spacer washer. If you hammer without it, then you need to measure the height of the sleeve each time. He knocked measured. And very often it turns out that you hammer the guide more than necessary. Then you knock it back. Inconvenient and timeconsuming. Plus you develop a seat.
It is not difficult to determine what size washer is needed. Before knocking out the bushings, you need to measure their overhang. Then measure the height of the place for the oil seal. The difference will be the size of our spacer washer. You also need to pay attention to the embossed sleeve and the seat itself.
