CPAP vs BiPAP – What’s the difference?

Follow
Sleep Doctor

Two of the most common treatments for sleep apnea are CPAP and BiPAP. You might see these terms used interchangeably, but the way they function is quite different. They are generally the same — they pressurize and deliver air directly into your breathing passages. But the difference is in the WAY they pressurize the air.

A CPAP machine uses continuous air pressure all night long, while a BiPAP means you get one pressure level when inhaling, and a different pressure level when exhaling.

Join Logan as she explains more of the differences between the two machines, and why you might prefer one over the other for your sleep apnea therapy.
