If you have an exam coming up in the next few days/weeks, then this feature will allow you to study a large number of cards based on their tags. It's something that medical students should know about as it's a great way to study for upcoming exams. Although it doesn't use the amazing features of spaced repetition, Anki still allows for active recall as that is the fundamental way that flashcards work.
