In this video we are going to take a look at the Creality CRScan Ferret 3D Scanner. Creality sent this scanner to me so consider this a paid promotion. We are going to look at several examples of how it works, how to make the most out of the scans, and what the mesh data looks like. If you are interested in the CRScan Ferret we are now a Creality Affiliate so if you want to buy anything from Creality and want to support the channel you can use our Affiliate link here.

Creality does have a facebook group for their scanners which you can find here:

Datasets you can take a look at from the video.

Popup Headlight cover processed https://a360.co/3QJngTr

Fender Processed https://a360.co/40mKOkr

Skull Raw https://a360.co/3SumY4o

Bike Helmet Raw https://a360.co/3SumJGw

With each of those datasets you can get an idea about the mesh quality. The bike helmet was scanned with high quality and processed in the Creality Scan software with the "1 click" method. The skull was scanned on a turntable and again processed with the "1 click" method. The car fender and headlight cover were processed manually in the scan software as well as postprocessed in Fusion 360.

This scanner can work if you have patience and take your time getting a good quality input before optimizing and processing. With some time and care you could get usable scans for your car projects, but at $300 you are getting an entry level consumer scanner. Creality has put in the time to make this a user friendly option for those just getting into 3D scanning which means their software doesn't have options and features for advanced processing of the scan data. I feel like this is a descent unit if you are trying to capture a digital model of objects and use them as a guide for design, such as my tail section for the motorcycle. I don't believe this scanner is an ideal solution for reverse engineering parts. You really need to get into the prosumer and professional scanners to get the speed/accuracy/detail required for that type of work. If you have any experience with this scanner good or bad please leave a comment.
