A series of crimes made headlines around the world in the 1980s: three western backpackers who got lost in the Amazon region and an ARD correspondent who was shot in Rio de Janeiro. They were all under the spell of Tatunca Nara, the tribal leader of an indigenous people. Or rather, the German conman Günther Hans Hauck. He captivated adventure seekers with a fantastic story, which ended fatally for some. The BKA supported by the German adventurer Rüdiger Nehberg investigated for murder and came to clear conclusions. But to this day, Tatunca Nara is a free man. ARD Crime Time, together with daughter Kirsten Nehberg, wanted to shed light on the matter and traveled to Brazil, to the place where Tatunca Nara was last seen.
