CSI St James Church

Dearly beloved in Christ,

This year's passion song service by the Church choir was held on March 10th, 2024 The fourth Sunday in lent. The program was presided over by our Presbyter Rev. Dr. Lawrence Jebadoss and by our associate Presbyter Rev. Ruby Lawrence.

The church choir sang seven numbers which were a mix of classical English and Tamil numbers. The first number was a Tamil translation of the English hymn "O the deep love of Jesus". It was followed by an anthem titles "Rejoice Medly" featuring the famous hymns such as "Sing with glad anticipation, O for a thousand toungues to sing & To God be the Glory." After this, the choir sang a Tamil number composed by Samuel Abeysekara, "Enadhu Paava Manadhu" which is a hymn of penitence. This was followed by a series of solos and chorus from the famous "Messiah" composed by G.F. Handel starting with "The trumpet shall sound", a bass solo, followed by a Alto and Tenor duet "O death where is thy sting" and a chorus "Thanks be to God". The final number was a contemporary Tamil song "En Nesar Azhagullavar".

The Junior choir sang two numbers "Gethsemane" in English and "Thunai Neere" in Tamil. It was a delight to hear their melodious voices.

We would like to thank our Presbyter Rev. Lawrence Jebasoss and our associate Presbyter Rev. Ruby Lawrence for their encouragement. Our sincere thanks to the Choir master Mr. Balasing Immanuel, Associate Choirmaster Mr. Kingston Kirubakaran, Organist Mr. Ruphus Joel and Associate organist Ms. Percy Jasmine for their efforts to make this event a grand success. A special word of thanks to all the other instrumentalists and the soloists. We would also like to thank the parents of the junior choir members for the interest and the choir members for their dedicated efforts. Above all, we would like to thank the Lord almighty for blessing our church with a well trained choir that participates actively in all services, singing a wide variety of music from Western classical to Tamil classical pieces adding beauty and meaning to the worship services. We encourage the church members to uphold the choir in your daily prayers and support the ministry.
