Una anciana viuda evoca con nostalgia su pasado el día en que cumple los ochenta años, analizando con resignación su presente. Estos pensamientos le llevan a rebelarse contra una realidad, que es esa sensación de inutilidad que suele tener el ser humano cuando llega a determinada edad, sobre todo si determinados signos externos se lo están recordando constantemente.

An elderly widow discusses her present life with resignation and wistfully recalls her past on the day she turns eighty years old. These thoughts make her rebel against a harsh reality, that is to say, a feeling of uselessness that some human beings often show when they grow old; a sense of worthlessness as they are treated just like those outdated objects which were previously useful, but are discarded now: the same things that we could all cast aside, even forget and eventually get rid of.
