Happy Ribbon Skirt Day! A collaboration between the Saskatoon Open Door Society, CARFAC Saskatchewan, and Sask Lotteries, the Ribbon Skirt Project is part of a series of creative activities for Afghan refugee women led by immigrant artist Muveddet AlKatib and Indigenous artist Honey ConstantInglis, a Plains Cree Heritage Educator and Community Coordinator from Sturgeon Lake First Nation. The Ribbon Skirt Project allowed the Afghan women, recently arrived in Saskatoon, to connect with others, express themselves, build a community, and experience new cultures. Their stories will be featured in our 4th annual online conference of THREADS: Cultural Conversations on May 22 & 23, 2024. Registration opens soon at www.threadsconversations.ca.
