Cupping for Plantar Fascia

Follow
Stuart Hinds Academy

An oldie but a goodie , this technique was first showed to me many years ago by good friend and Cupping Educator Dave Sheehan ( Myofascial Cupping Guru) and it works a treat.
Depending on the duration of the condition you should start to see significant changes to the symptoms, also make sure to isolate the predisposing factors.
PF comes in different flavors for example ie : exercise induced PF

I would apply this technique post my soft tissue work to the subsidary muscles involved in a Plantar Fascia condition, ie: Tibilais Posterior/Flexor Digitorum / Flexor Hallicus/Gastrocenimus/Soleus /Tibialis anterior/Peroneals , followed by some joint mobilisation techniques to the ankle and foot , then the Cupping procedure and then some Rocktaping of the Plantar Fascia region.

So before cupping clear tension from big prime movers Gastro/Soleus and target Trigger Points especially medial soleus TP .
Next the deep toe flexors as they control foot and ankle biomechanics Tib Post /Flexor Dig/Flexor Hallicus
Followed by Tibialis anterior the antagonist to our large prime movers .
Then the often forgotten lateral compartment muscles the Peroneal muscles .
Then we can start to work the different layers of muscles of the foot :
Adductor Hallucis,Flexor digitorum brevis, Abductor digiti minimi, then the next layer Qudratus Plantae, Adductor hallicus , Flexor hallucis brevis, Flexor digiti minimi brevis.
I will bring you some videos on how to address and work these once again often missed muscles.

Remember to address the Trigger Points in all these muscles taking time to palpate and locate the most irritable.

Once you have completed the soft tissue work then the cupping can be applied.
