Custom Molded Grey Water Tank for RAM Promaster Van - Installation

Vanlife Outfitters

In this video we introduce the amazing Grey Water Tank we created for the Ram Promaster. We also show you how it's installed!

Finally a Grey Water Tank for the Ram Promaster! There are tons of aftermarket products for the Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit, but the Ram Promaster rarely ever gets any love...until now. The nerds at Vanlife Outfitters have created a 26 gallon Grey water tank and it is the ultimate grey water tank for off grid living.

The cool thing about this grey water tank (other than the fact that it's a whopping 26 gallons) is that it's super low profile. It doesn't affect the clearance of the vehicle and it's virtually invisible when standing (and even sitting) beside the van.

In addition to being 26 gallons and low profile, this grey water tank is fairly easy to install and comes with all the parts and mounting hardware to be completely installed and ready to use.

The Kit includes:

1x Custom molded gray water tank
1x 3” dump valve assembly
3x Mounting brackets. Note each bracket is a slightly different shape for the specific location it will be installed into and the brackets are labeled “front”, “middle” and “rear”.
1x 3½” stainless steel hose clamp
5x 5/16 x 1” stainless steel bolts
7x 5/16” stainless steel rivnuts (you’ll need 5x but we’re including a few extra since they’re hard to find at your local hardware store).
5x 5/16 stainless steel flat washers
5x 5/16 stainless steel lock washers
1x M8 x 1” stainless steel bolt
1x M8 stainless steel flat washer
1x M8 stainless steel lock washer
1x – Installation guide

What Else You’ll Need

Wrench for installing the bolts. The 5/16 bolts use a ½” wrench and the M8 bolts use a 13mm wrench. A socket wrench is the easiest to use. You can also use an adjustable wrench.
Sealant for attaching the dump valve assembly to the 3” outlet on the tank. We recommend either clear silicone or marine sealant such as 3M 5200. We use silicone on our vans.
We recommend you use thread sealant such as Loctite.

Tools

Rivnut installation tool.
Affordable but hard to use (especially under a van!): https://amzn.to/3rgLeIz
Best option but expensive: https://amzn.to/3OLtNKe
Drill bits. You’ll need to drill one 7/16” hole for installing a rivnut. We typically use a ¼” drill bit for the pilot hole and then use a step bit to make the hole 7/16”.
Some type of jack/blocks/lift to help position the tank into place under the van until you install the brackets. We use blocks along with our FlatJack levelers.
