CWR or Continuous Welded Rail Trains consists of flatcars that are built with racks that hold continuous welded rails to lay alongside the right of way to prepare for the installation of new rail on lines that either have jointed rails that are needed to be upgraded or rails that are in need of replacement due to wear and tear on the mainline.

The first CWR train has NS 1065(Savannah and Atlanta) leading a Des Moinesbound rail train.
The train was spotted at Grand Mound and Clarence on the UP Clinton Subdivision.

The second train was a CWR HERZOG train southbound from Bensenville, IL to Nahant Yard in Davenport, IA and eventually points south. The train was spotted in Clinton on the CPKC Davenport Subdivision with KCS 3967 leading and taken after sunset.
