The Skoda Fabia WRC was to replace the Octavia WRC. It was to be more innovative, agile, and compact than its predecessor, but things did not go according to plan for Skoda. It was the last car Skoda would enter into the top class, with the manufacturer Czeching out of the championship at the end of 2005. Still, it became the beginning of a long line of successful Volkswagen Group rally cars.
