BROOKLYN: August 7 Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes took his message of crime prevention to communities he visited across Brooklyn on Aug. 6, to mark the Annual Night Out Against Crime. He urged residents not to leave the business of fighting crime in their communities exclusively to law enforcement. "You too can play a role," said DA Hynes. He said the popular slogan, "See Something, say something," could be applied to make a big difference in the crusade against crime. "Every one of you has a stake in this effort," said DA Hynes. The chief goal of National Night Out Against Crime is to highlight crime prevention and promote communication between police and the general public. This year in Brooklyn the was sponsor the National Association of Town Watchers in which police precincts organized anticrime rallies with the participation of local businesses and civic organizations. Other activities to mark the occasion included picnics and games for children. National Night Out Against Crime started some thirty years ago to encourage communities across the country to get together in a show of force against gangs, drugs and crime.
