In 2021, during a heatdome event, Alex and I headed out into the North Cascades to climb and ski Dakobed. One of our stunning volcanoes, it was long trek along the North Fork Sauk which brought us to snowfields and glaciers. The ascent route felt very straight forward, leaving us to admit that the crux of this volcano is the approach. Skiing during a heat event meant the snow was quite soft and slow aside from the very top. We even had to cross some scree between turns. Naturally, hiking out in 95 degree weather left us quite quiet on the return... But it was wonderful spending those night's out one the White Chuck Glacier!
