Daniel Tammet is an essayist, poet, novelist, translator, autistic savant and synesthete. He is the European Champion for memorising Pi which he did to 22,514 decimal places. He speaks a dozen languages and learnt conversational Icelandic within a week. He can perform astonishing arithmetic calculations quicker than it takes to input into a calculator.
His forthcoming book Nine Minds: Inner Lives on the Spectrum delves into the extraordinary lives of nine neurodivergent men and women from around the globe.

In his talk Daniel explores the tired stereotypes of autism. His stories reach across the divides of age, gender, sexuality and nationality to draw out the inner worlds of his subjects. Telling stories as richly diverse as the spectrum itself, this illuminating, lifeaffirming work of narrative nonfiction celebrates the power and beauty of the neurodivergent mind, and the daring freedom with which these individuals have built their lives.

He is also the author of How to be Normal, Portraits, Every Word is A Bird We Teach to Sing, Thinking in Numbers, Embracing the Wide Sky, and the New York Times bestseller Born On A Blue Day. Tammet is Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He lives in Paris.
