DaVinci Watercolors Made in the USA // Tried u0026 True Review Series

Today we are looking at a brand of USAmade watercolors that I have been using since the late '90s. The thing I love most about this paint is that you can purchase economical 37ml tubes of watercolor which is great for teaching. I originally ordered this paint in a 6 color mixing set from an artist magazine to use in my classes and it was an excellent value for money. It still is. I usually buy my paint at Blick because I work in a variety of mediums and often need other products so I wait until I hit free shipping to order. DaVinci Watercolors on Blick: https://shrsl.com/4doxx (affiliate link) I purchased some of my paints directly from the DaVinci website because they were running a good special back in November and offered more colors than Blick had (honestly, the free holiday trio drew me in) https://davincipaints.com/shopdavin...
*This is not an affiliate link, nor is this a sponsored video. I purchased all of these paints except for the sample of Denise Soden's Earth Friendly Palette colors which were set to me by a viewer (thanks MJ Pete!)

I did a couple of studies with the paint for this review. Since this paint has been in my normal rotation for decades most of the paint was mixed with other brands. I do have this tutorial done with daVinci paint if you want to see it in action:    • Pen & Ink Watercolor Poppy & DaVinci ...   Actually, it looks like I did a review back then as well but this one will have more colors. Between the 2 videos, you will have a lot of info regarding this paint to see if it is right for you.

Pros:
Price
Available in 8ml, 15ml, and 37ml tubes as well as half pan and sample dot sets
Transparent pigment info on the website and packaging
Made in the USA
High Quality

Cons:
I have none, this nofrills brand delivers good paint. The paint pulls away from the sides a bit when you fill a full pan but it is still easy to rewet. That can be a sign of a bit too much extender but in use, I have not found it to suffer. It does make me feel that they are not quite as high quality as M Graham, Qor, or Daniel Smith but I think I might have that bias due to how affordable they are and I want to own any biases I have in my reviews.

Bottom Line, I recommend these paints. They are affordable and reliable. The ample tubes keep me painting without being afraid of running out and in a teaching setting I can share with students without breaking the bank. Try a tube and see what you think. Ultramarine blue deep is one of my favorites but you really can't go wrong.
