DayZ Standalone's lore is primarily based on the events that transpired prior to the outbreak. Currently, there is little to no information regarding the cause of the outbreak, as all of the events postoutbreak are intentionally devoid. Players assume the role of creating their own story based on the foundations of the postoutbreak lore in Chernarus or Livonia.
