In November 1964, two of the most modern fighters in the Middle East confronted in combat for the first time. Israeli Mirage IIIs flew fighter escort for a recon aircraft and two of them lead by future ace Amos Amir remained in the Syrian airspace to cover its retreat. Their GCI informed them of two Syrian MiG21s approaching. This was an opportunity for a headon intercept using semiactive radar homing R530 missile. This video shows in detail how the situation developed.
