Do D&D Parties Need Leaders? How does one become a successful Tactician?
The Tactician is a common D&D or TTRPG player archetype, one who (according to Matt Colville) wants to optimize the adventure and the party, not just their characters. There are lots of D&D horror stories about Tacticians, but I believe these are because of skill issues, and not because tacticians or leders are bad for D&D.
