Deep Creek Tubing Trails and Waterfalls

Deep Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers camping, tubing, hiking, and waterfalls.

Hikers can choose from several loop hikes leading to the beautiful Deep Creek and three pretty waterfalls. Deep Creek area loop hikes include Juney Whank Falls (0.6 mile), Three Waterfalls Loop (2.4 miles), and Deep CreekIndian Creek Loop (4.4 miles). Longer loop hikes are also possible. Trails to the waterfalls start from the large parking area at the end of Deep Creek Road (across the creek from Deep Creek Campground).

Tubing and swimming in Deep Creek is the perfect way to cool off after enjoying the falls. The upper section is narrower and offers the most whitewater. It also provides the most thrilling Deep Creek tubing. This is a wild, bouncy ride that can separate the rider from the tube, especially when the water is swift after a rain. The lower section is wider and a bit calmer. It's perfect for younger kids and lessadventurous adults. The total length of the area on water is 3 miles and is rated by American Whitewater as Class II whitewater.
NOTE: Great Smoky Mountains National Park is now requiring all children 13 years of age and younger to wear a life jacket while tubing. Though we personally saw a lot of people ignoring those new rules, you should make note of this new policy.

A campground is across the street from the recreation area and lots and lots of tube rental companies are just before the entrance for those who don't have their own.
