Don Alejo Garza Tamez, a Mexican businessman and rancher, became a folk hero after his courageous stand against a drug cartel. On November 13, 2010, cartel members demanded he vacate his ranch. Refusing to surrender, Don Alejo refused to forfeit his property and armed himself. When the cartel arrived on November 14, he singlehandedly engaged them in a fierce gunfight.

His bravery and refusal to submit to criminals, symbolizes defiance and the fight for justice throughout Mexico.
