Description: Sunset arrival in Salt Lake on a very wet night in early Spring, after a flight from Detroit. We approached from the south that day: flying west over the Rocky Mountains, we descended to about 16,000 ft and entered the Wasatch Front just south of Provo, after which we turned to the northwest to head towards the Salt Lake Valley. We then flew into a dense layer of clouds, turning again once were directly south of the airport to line up with the runways for our final approach. We broke through the clouds shortly before landing, and a minute or two later we were making the lastminute right turn for Runway 35—which is offset from the other main runways—leveling off just before touchdown. After exiting the runway, we quickly taxied across Runway 34R/16L, then made the fairly long journey over to our gate on the west end of A concourse.
