On 8 September 1989, Partnair Flight 394 loses control, breaks up in midair, and crashes into the North Sea, killing all 55 people on board. The aircraft's vertical stabilizer had vibrated loose during flight due to excessive wear on substandard bolts, sleeves, and pins that had been illegally sold as "aircraftgrade."
