Today we will learn "Desert region model " making .

Desert areas cover the onefifth area of earth's land area. Due to scarcity of rainfall there is very less vegetation are found .

For this model we need to make
1) Mountains
2)tent,(Normadic herders are living in tent )
3) animals like camel,snakes scorpions, pigeons,falcon etc.
These animals adapted them selves to live in harsh climate .
* Camels are called the "Ship of desert". They can live without food and water for many days.
* Snakes and scorpions can not run fast so they live under the sand in day time .
4) Many hard grasses, thorny bushes, and cacti are found here.
Cacti thick and thorny stems in which they stored the water.
Grasses have long roots,penetrate through the underground tp get water.
5) OasesThey are found in some areas. In some part underground water come to the surfaces. These soil are fertile.
Many date palms are found here.
6) Date palms They are found near by oases.

Lets start

We need
1) shoebox
2)colour papers
3)glue
4)scissors
5)colourful sketchpens
6)cardboard
7) marker
8) silver zinc pen
9) sprite bottle
10) Fine sand
11) thermocol
12) thermocol cutter.
13) animal figurines
14) Fine sand
15) straw

Step1

To make sun ,cut a circular piece of paper.
Paste blue paper on 3 sides of shoe box .
Do not paste on the top or bottom part.
Paste the sun in the background.

Step2

To make mountains draw triangles on the cardboard .put double line on one side.
Cut it accordingly.
Fold from the bottom and side part .
Paste brown paper on them
Paste them on the background.

Step3

To make animals paste the camel picture on cardboard and but it piece. If you dont have enough pictures then put the same on cardboard,give border and cut it .
For snakes and scorpions draw these pictures on brown paper and cut them .

Step 4

To make cacti draw the pictures on the cardboard ,color them with green colour.Put dotmarks on them using silver zinc pen to give thorny look.
Draw some more cacti on the border of the box.

Step 5

To make tent bring a rectangular cardboard and fold it from the middle .

Step 6

To make date palms take a sprite bottle cut using thermocol cutter . Cut it from middle. Draw the leaves and cut them .Fold the leaves from the middle and cut diagonally upto the middle part. Make as many leaves as you can .bring a straw arrange the leaves over one another .Wrap it with cellotapes.

Step 7

Cover the straw with brown paper.
Cut as per requirement.
To make it stand take a square piece of thermocol. Make a hole and put it into it.

Step 8.
To make Oases, draw a big circle and 1 small circle inside it . Cut it from its perimeter. Cut the inner circle too and take out middle part. .
To show its water take a white paper draw a circle and fill it with skyblue color .cut the circle.

For grasses take a rectangular piece from green bottle .Cut it along length side upto the base .

Now lets paste all of them in proper place .

1) paste tent on left corner of project.
2) Near by tent paste camels.
3)at one place paste all the cacti.
4) On the right side of project paste oases,date palms around it .
5) Give cut on the perimeter of oases and put the grass into it .
6) paste the glue on the box .Spread fine sand in it.
7) Do not spread evenly.In desert many ups and downs sand hills are found ,they are called sand dunes which is formed by sandstorms .
8) paste circular blue paper inside the oases.
9) cover the thermocol with sands.
10) You cam paste more cacti using thermocol.
11) put the snakes and scorpions in the sand dunes .
12) Draw some birds on the background .
13) paste a desrt region poster on the border.

Desert region model is ready .
