Designing 3D Printed Dresses | FASHION AS DESIGN

Follow
The Museum of Modern Art

Textiles are among the most ancient human design pieces. In this short film, New Yorkbased fashion collective threeASFOUR, together with collaborators Travis Fitch and Stratsys, reimagine fabric manipulation and textile design using 3D printing to create dresses that transform based on the ergonomics and movement of the human body.

FASHION AS DESIGN is a new course by MoMA that explores a selection of garments from around the world—ranging from Kente cloth to jeans to 3Dprinted dresses. Each week will begin with a conversation between the course instructors—Paola Antonelli, Michelle Fisher, and Stephanie Kramer—that introduces the themes, items, and questions that we will explore.
