In today’s Russia, more than 35,000 children are waiting to be adopted. But the number of adoptions is declining every year. This is largely because foreigners have almost stopped adopting Russian children. We spoke to those adopted into Western countries back in the late 1990s, to find out how their lives turned out and what fate awaited their siblings who stayed in Russia.
