Corktown, established in the 1840s, is a neighborhood rich in history and cultural significance. Its name originates from County Cork, Ireland, as many of its early residents were Irish immigrants. The area is bounded by I75 to the north, the Lodge Freeway to the east, Bagley and Porter streets to the south, and Rosa Parks Boulevard (12th Street) to the west.

One of Corktown's most iconic landmarks is Michigan Central Station, which operated from 19141988. In its prime during the 1940s, the station saw 4,000 passengers a day and housed 3,000 employees in its office tower.

Corktown's real estate scene is a mix of contemporary and historic properties, with lofts going for $300400 per square foot and up. Notable developments include Grinnell Lofts and The Eleventh, a new townhome development.
