27 hp Kohler gt5000 got through 2/3rds of yard today. Then she puttered out. I'm making a guess what's wrong... What do you think of wrong??? Leave it in comments.

The travel on the valve was limited due to the valve seat dropping.

I STAKED the valve seats on the replacement head along with carbon cleaning the valve stems. If you notice how much farther down the bottom valve is compared to the top you can see it is stuck open.

Other way to test is to open the valve by pressing it down, removing the spark plug and using a camera or coat hanger wire to feel around and see if the seat fell off.

IT WILL MAKE A JANGLE NOISE IF YOU DEPRESS THE VALVE AND TOUCH THE DROPPED SEAT WITH A LARGE SIZE PAPERCLIP OR WHATEVER YOU MCGUYVER IN THE HOLE TO TOUCH IT.

YOU CAN ALSO MEASURE THE 2 VALVES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE HEAD TO THE TIP OF THE VALVE.

BOTH VALVES WITH SPRINGS ON AND NOT DEPRESSED SHOULD BE THE SAME LENGTH.
