Alfred Oliver was found mortally wounded in his tobacco store in Reading on June 22nd, 1929.
The attack had happened on a busy market day in the town and so you may believe the suspect would be quickly apprehended but this case would be much more complicated than that.

Alfred Oliver died 24 hours after the initial attack and soon one man became prime suspect.
Newspapers had a field day when it was revealed the man believed to be the attacker was also a famous film star Philip Yale Drew.
