One of the most controversial aspects of season 5 of The Wire is the fact that The Greeks chose to work with Marlo over Proposition Joe, who they worked with for years. I’ve made a full analysis on this called Why Did The Greek Choose Marlo Over Proposition Joe, but one thing I propose is that the Greeks could make more money working with Marlo, rather than Joe, who was a good businessman and would demand a higher cut. And this is probably what happened, with Marlo later telling the coop that the price of the brick is going up.

A bit like how he tried to save face at the end of the series by telling the coop he willingly wanted out of the gangster lifestyle, when he was actually threatened with time behind bars, Marlo putting the price of the brick up may have been because the Greek put his price up.
