Discover Speckle! A free platform to exchange 3D data and collaborate between AEC software

Open Source for Architects

Speckle is an opensource platform for 3D Data interoperability and collaboration! It offers free connectors for almost all software used in architecture and construction and also provides a free 3D viewer, e.g. for sharing projects with clients. Finally, Speckle presents itself as a Git for AEC ; a git is a platform to manage versions and track changes in a project, which foster collaboration, traditionnaly used in IT development. In this video, we'll take a look at how Speckle works, followed by two methods for sending data from Rhino to Revit, a workflow that is widely used due to Rhino's extensive modeling capabilities and Revit's BIM capabilities. The first method involves sending a curtain wall panel to a family to be integrated into a curtain wall. The second method uses a more recent tool from Speckle that first sends BIM information from Revit to Rhino, mapping it onto Rhino geometries before sending them to Revit. Both of these methods ensure that elements are properly categorized, which is the core of BIM for extracting schedules or managing drawings graphics. Speckle is also available for opensource software as Blender or QGIS.
