In this video you will see everything that you will generally see and experience if you decide to run the Walt Disney Marathon, Dopey Challenge, or the Goofy Challenge. Please note that my wife, Longry videotapes her experiences during the race and then I editing her recordings down to make this video. I have utilized Apple's Final Cut Pro and Compressor in my efforts to produce this video.

A general description of the marathon course for the 2022 Disney Marathon is as follows: The Disney Marathon starts off at approximately 5 a.m., just right outside of Epcot and after a brief run behind the land pavilion in Epcot, the course exits that theme park and winds its way up World Drive toward the Magic Kingdom. In the Magic Kingdom is Cinderella's Castle. This castle is 183 feet tall and was built in July of 1971. It is made of steel and concrete and no bricks were used in its construction. Approximately 600 tons of steel braced frame construction make up the inner structure of the castle and is encircled by a 10 inch reinforced concrete wall. The moat for the castle contains approximately 3.37 million gallons of water. There are reported to be 16 million colored lights that illuminate Cinderellas's Castle as the sun sets at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

It was modeled after the real life castle in Bavaria, Germany called the Neuschwanstein Castle. If you would like more information about this castle or want to visit it; the website is as follows: www.Neuschwanstein.de

The marathon course will continue until it comes to the Magic Kingdom entrance. Once entering the Magic Kingdom, the course goes down Main Street, U.S.A, then toward Tomorrowland, through Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, passing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and then through Cinderella Castle toward Liberty Square, then Adventureland and exiting the Magic Kingdom. Next is a an approximate fivemile trek to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and entering at the rear of the theme park in the Africa section before heading toward Expedition Everest and through Dinoland before exiting the park. After then passing the Disney Coronado Springs Resort and Blizzard Beach, runners will go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The course has runners briefly passing the Hollywood Tower Hotel down Sunset Boulevard and out the entrance. At Mile 24 you reenter Epcot and run around the World Showcase to the Creations Shop and then exit through the area between Mission Space and Test Track into the parking area and the finish. The time limit for completing this marathon is 7 hours and for the half it is 3 hours and 30 minutes. Additionally, the Walt Disney Marathon is an official Boston Marathon qualifier.

The official name of this event is the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. It caps off four days of races (5K Race on Thursday, 10K Race on Friday, Half Marathon on Saturday, and a full marathon on Sunday). Our best advice is to try to stay at a resort that is close to the park and provides free transportation to the race. By doing this, it will make things much easier and provide you with a better overall marathon experience. We stayed at Disney's Yacht Club Resort and really enjoy staying there. It is more expensive than some of the other resorts, but we feel it is really worth it. The website to Disney's Yacht Club is as follows:
