Disney Wish - VERY Accessible Room Tour - Cruise Embarkation Day 1 - Full Ship Tour with Senses Spa

Disney Wish Embarkation Day! This vlog is the fifth of 7 (or more) vlogs in my (hopefully first!) Disney Series. I was joined by Pam, Evie, and Aiden on this amazing trip with stops at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and EPCOT (After Hours) during the Food & Wine Festival before sailing on the Disney Wish in August 2023.

If you are new to the channel, I have a rare muscle disease, so for extended adventures I use my mobility scooter. The vlogs will feature some clips from my Scooter Cam, and I wore this action camera on the rides so that way you could not only see the rides but also how I transfer into and out of them as a person with limited mobility and muscle weakness.

This vlog starts with us taking the shuttle from the Walt Disney World pick up (at Saratoga Springs Hotel) to Port Canaveral for embarkation! The shuttle was very accessible, and we were luckily in group 5 so we got to board and explore the ship early! We did the 3Night Bahamian Cruise during the 25th Silver Anniversary at Sea. This itinerary brought us to stops in stops in Nassau and Disney's Castaway Cay!

With stops at Tiana's Bayou, Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, Luna, Keg and Compass, the movie theaters, the teen rooms and basketball court, and a FULL tour of Senses Spa, we covered a lot of ground.

You will get a full tour of our accessible room which was a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom (Accessible). The room has a bunkbed with two twin beds on the bottom half on the ground. There is also a queen side bed that is at a great height for transferring.

The accessible bathroom is exceptional the roll in shower has a built in bench and grab bars, and the shower has a detachable shower head and all of the shampoo and conditioner within a reasonable arms reach. Throughout the room are also emergency buttons in smart locations which is reassuring.

What topped this room off the my most accessible room that I have ever stayed in was that the room has automatic doors! With the simple touch of a button or swipe of your room card or Disney Band, the door opens automatically. Getting into hotel rooms on my own with my scooter is impossible without this feature!

Before going to the Sail Way Celebration, we had the mandatory drill. Normally I have a bad attitude with these drills because they typically don't consider disabled people, but not this time! They have a procedure in place for trained staff to evacuate the people that need elevators but can't use stairs. This is way that it should be everywhere! Thank you Disney for being inclusive!

As a bonus, you will see our decorated door and the start of some of our duck hiding shenanigans. I couldn't believe I had over an hour of footage before we even got to dinner, so you will have to wait until the next vlog to see how our meal at Worlds of Marvel was!

I hope that you enjoy this vlog, and if you do, please subscribe so that you don't miss any upcoming clips from this trip and more! I will also post highlights and fun skits (think "When You Get Stuck Sitting Next to a Disney Adult on a Plane) so check me out on Instagram and TikTok! Any likes and comments are welcome and very appreciated so that I can keep this newish channel chugging along!

Welcome to daniellevates! The channel name is a play on the words Danielle + elevates, because this channel is all about elevating ideas about disability and rare disease through humor and adventures! Vlogs feature my adventures and include accessibility reviews. There will also be funny clips of awkward and true moments in the lives of people with disabilities and rare diseases. Since birth, I have had an extremely rare (technically undiagnosed) neuromuscular disease. Depending on how strenuous the adventure is, sometimes I use a scooter and sometimes I don’t I simply strive to make all content as genuine as possible and to be a positive advocate for the disability and rare disease community.
