DIY 30 Amp 120V NEMA TT30R Power Outlet Receptacle Install for RV

For those of you interested, I recently added a 120V 30amp outlet in our 2024 Thor Compass 24KB RV garage to keep our RV plugged in while at home. My run from the circuit breaker panel is very short so if yours is longer it would just require longer wires. We live in southern Arizona, so we like to set the AC to 90 degrees during our hot summers so that the interior does not get too hot while parked at home. We also keep stuff in the fridge between trips.

According to the American Wire Standard, or AWS, a 30amp circuit breaker requires a 10gauge minimum wire size for shorter distances. For longer distances, you will need a bigger wire, such as 8gauge, to account for voltage, drop over the length of the wire.
