DIY Enamel Dots from Hot Glue Plus Two Great Tips!

Crafting For Almost Everyone

Tip 1Either find some stained bibs or go to a thrift store and buy some with Velcro closures if possible. They are better without plastic backing as well. Attach the bib to the arm of your craft chair and you have a really great craft towel that's always accessible to you.
Tip 2 To clean your glue gun, take a wad of aluminum foil and while your gun is hot, rub the ball of aluminum foil over the tip and wipe off all of the excess glue etc that accumulates on your gun. The frugal crafter did this and I thought it worked great.

To make faux enamel dots, take a silicone mat and using any glue gun, make circles the size you want your dots to be and then twirl your gun to remove any excess strings. When they are still a little warm, you can use a paint brush and mica or Perfect Pearls or any pearlized eye shadow and paint the dots to make a pearlized dot.
To make a colored dot, wait for the dots to cool and then take a small baggie and put a handful of your dots into the baggie with two or three drops of alcohol ink. Use more for a more vibrant color. Close the baggie tightly and rub the outside of the bag to disperse the ink. Once you like the color, remove the dots from the baggie and rub them with a paper towel so they don't have a mottled look to them.
