The OpenFFBoard now supports 2 axis joysticks with most motor drivers.
In this video you see how such a setup could look like.

Note: The TMC4671 you see here had to me modified for this operation and it is not recommended to use at the moment for this application.

Instead the ODrive 3.6 would usually work best in this kind of setup and does not show the slow reaction the ODrive pro had in the demo.
