In this video I showed, how to make a dimmable LED softbox out of a broken monitor. This softbox can be used for product photography, portrait photography, etc. It can also be used as a lighting for various work at the table.
To make a LED panel, you need a monitor with an aluminum matrix case. It is impossible to glue the LED strip on plastic, as it will overheat. Instead of a monitor, you can take a simple sheet of aluminum, but then you will need to make additional mounts for the diffuser.
To adjust the brightness, I use a motor power regulator, it is much better than cheap dimmers, because it works at a high frequency and does not cause light flickering, which is very important for photography and video shooting.
DIY softbox is much cheaper. In addition, the flat LED panel is smaller and very lightweight.
