DIY Outdoor Kitchen sink

Roos Idzinga

Hey!, In this video I will be making a quick outdoor kitchen, sink thing. We needed a little outdoor sink to accompany our tiny house.

I made this project only using reclaimed or leftover materials. Some from former projects, some recycled and the countertop is made from old bed slats. The sink was laying outside for a long time but it’s a lovely porcelain sink when it is clean :P. You don’t need pretty materials to make pretty things!!

First I made a simple base from various pieces reclaimed wood and then I made the top. As I mentioned is the top made from old bed slats. I don’t know exactly what type of wood it is but my guess would be some kind of tropical hardwood, if you know please let me know in the comments!. I didn’t want to screw the slats in from the top because I wanted to go for a modern/fancy look, so I screwed them together from the side. I filled the existing screw holes with wooden plugs because I just didn’t want water to get into the little holes when the kitchen is used. I also wanted to use wooden plugs because I like the look of it with the contrasting colours.
I made a sort of rack underneath where we can store things we might need. I treated the top with a couple of layers of lacquer and then I painted the base blue. I didn’t like one bit of it!, so I had a look around and found some black paint we had laying around. I really like it with the black paint and I’m glad I went that way. Lastly I put silicone sealant all around the sink and installed the faucet.

Disclaimer: There are probably better ways to complete a project such as this and I am by no means a professional.
