Many people have asked for a diagram of how I wired the solar system, here is a rough drawing of how I did ours.

One of the most important steps in building and designing a solar panel power system is to not overload the charge controllers.

In this video we show you how to avoid do that with wiring the panels in series.
(Once wired in series they are now called solar panel arrays.)

Then using the combiner boxes to hook up the groups of panels that are wired in series now hook them up into a parallel setup.

Wiring in series adds the wattages of the panels up and the voltages of the panels up.

Wiring the solar panel arrays in parallel within the combiner boxes
keeps the voltages the same but increases the wattage.

Example: If you have 8 solar panels that are 440 watts and 50 volts.
You wire them into 2 arrays.
4 in series (positive to negative, then positive to negative...)
you now have 2 arrays that equal 1760 watts and 200 volts each.
Now wire the 2 arrays into a combinner box and you should end up with 3520 watts and 200 volts.

These are the numbers you want to make sure are not greater then what your charge controllers can handle...
