This video covers sample situations to help you better understand forprofit grants. We’ll look at why you want grants in the first place and yellow flags to look out for if you’re a freelance grant writer trying to break into this field.

Examples of grants for forprofits include:
Rasmuson Foundation: Individual Artist Program
Two common federal government research grants are the Small Business Innovation Resource (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant program

Forprofits with the most opportunity to receive grants are conducting very innovative, research work or creatives/individuals pushing forward in a grassroots way.

➡ It’s probably not necessary to start a nonprofit. Questions to ask yourself if you’re considering this include:
✨ What are you trying to accomplish?
✨ Who can you partner with?
✨ What part of what you want to do you most love?

Consider fiscal sponsorship as an option. A fiscal sponsor serves as the administrative “home” for your cause. This helps you access grant funding while getting to focus on what you do best.

Also, consider grant writing as a business development strategy.
