Hi!
First, apologies for the length of this video, I meant it to be shorter and snappier but there is just so much to say about asthma. One of the most important messages is that it's life threatening.
Over 1200 people died last year due to asthma all from a preventable disease.
An asthma attack is a medical emergency if you can't manage it, you need to get immediate help depending on the severity, this may be an ambulance or your GP.

In this video, I mentioned the importance of seeing your GP yearly for annual asthma reviews as asthma changes with time and you may need new medications or in some cases, withdrawal of meds.
One of the key parts of this review is having an asthma plan this tells you loads of things, chief amongst this is what do if things get worse.

Here's an example of an asthma plan: https://www.asthma.org.uk/advice/mana...

Asthma is quite complicated in that it's not straightforward to diagnose, other diseases can mimick the symptoms and there's loads of things that can trigger it. It's also unique to you asthma tends to be quite different for everybody but most people need inhalers to manage it.

There are 2 main types of inhalers that I talk about in the video. One of the main points I want you to take away is about inhaler technique. If you do use an inhaler, please learn how to use it properly its about 90 second investment of time that can genuinely make a huge difference.

Check out this page to learn how to do it properly:

Thanks for watching.
Till next time, stay healthy!
