Solving a nose wheel shimmy that can have a damaging effect on an aircraft!

In this video (part 2 of 2 in this series), I tackle how to correct a nose wheel shimmy on my PA38112 Piper Tomahawk. This video involves the overhaul of the torque link for the nose landing gear.

Many aircraft use torque links on nose landing gear in general aviation, experimental aviation, as well as commercial aviation. The same theory applies eliminate excessive free play in all bushings and links and you will be doing your aircraft a huge favor!

Not correcting a shimmy can cause uneven wear on your tire, can accelerate the wear on your torque link, can damage steering linkages and can even cause cracking in your struts and engine mounts! (and can also cause loss of directional control on takeoff and landing rolls)

After the work was completed, I took the aircraft for a test flight over beautiful Southern Alberta to see if the shimmy has been corrected. Thank you for watching!
