We explore the difficult paradox around God's sovereignty and human free will by analyzing the biblical account of Pharaoh in Exodus. Does God cause people to make certain choices against his will to ultimately show his glory and power? I discuss Romans 9 and the vessel of wrath metaphor, analyzing perspectives on God enduring Pharaoh's stubbornness to eventually overthrow him and free his people from slavery in Egypt. Even when humans choose wrongly, God brings good from the situation. But did God "make" Pharaoh rebel? Does God always get what he wants? I breakdown this complex theological issue around God's will, human will, suffering, and divine purposes.
