In this video, I explain the role of DNA in shaping our bodies. You know what DNA is, but do you know how it works? How it controls the production of proteins that influence athletic performance, cognition, and personality? How it can be changed through training and diet?

DNA is the most efficient form of data storage known to man. The human genome contains roughly three billion units of information, which can be divided into around 30,000 genes. The parts we're interested in are the "single nucleotide polymorphisms." These are areas of the genetic code that commonly vary from person to person (it is considered an SNP if it affects more than 1% of the population). These slight changes can alter anything from the way muscle is formed, to how much we worry about stressful events. In this video, you'll learn more about human DNA, including some commonlystudied polymorphisms.
