How do you take human hands and surgical instruments and scale them down into a tiny surgical workspace? That’s the challenge that lay before Intuitive engineers tasked with designing the
da Vinci surgical system.

The result? “We can suddenly achieve a level of precision that simply isn't possible for the human body alone to do," explains Jonathan Conta, VP of Product Management at Intuitive.

And it doesn’t stop there, he adds: “In my every day I’m charged up about what we’re doing. About building better products. We’re thinking about different types of robots. Different instruments to be able to do more jobs, more efficiently, more safely. Ways to bring new vision technologies to the surgeons, so they can see yet more that the naked eye can’t see. Giving that surgeon more information to do their job better.”
