Don't ever give up on your fig trees! Can a dead fig tree come back to life? My fig tree branches look dead after winter, is it still alive? How do I save my dying fig tree? Will my fig tree ever come out of dormancy? I asked all of these questions after seeing some of my in ground trees looking pretty pathetic halfway through summer. I thought that several of these varieties of figs, that I have growing in the orchard, were dead from late winter frost damage, but lo and behold, they shot up with new growth in the very late summer. Very glad I didn't pull them out sooner. If you think your in ground fig trees are dead, give them time. You never know what might start growing in mid August.
